Most of us find that as we grow older, we start to accumulate fat in places that previously were fat-free. For men, obesity generally manifests itself in a fat tummy. For women, it is the tummy, hips, and backside. It seems that both genders want to know how to lose fat tummy!
Well, simple math tell us that if we consume more calories than we expend, we will gain weight. So, in order to lose some of that weight, we need to either consume fewer calories or burn more calories. Because of our busy lives, it is often just easier to curb our intake than it is to get ourselves to the gym every night.

For me, it happened overnight. I woke up one morning, took a shower, and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw it – lower stomach fat. When did that happen? Did it happen overnight? More importantly, how do I get rid of it?
Most people, when they hit their mid-30’s, will find that they start accumulating fat in some pretty unattractive places. For men, they start loading it on in their mid-section. For women, they pack it on across their thighs and buttocks, and of course, in the form of lower stomach fat.
It should be no surprise to any of us that with the way we eat, sooner or later the food was going to take its toll. By eating more food than we can possibly burn off in a normal day, the accumulation of excess calories begins to settle into fat pockets.

As a bit of a fitness expert and a perennial gym rat, a lot of people ask me how to burn off fat. Well the obvious answer is to ensure that you don’t accumulate the fat in the first place, but for most people, it’s way too late for that.
My nieces (aged 5 and 7) are already carrying too much fat on their little frames. If they were born 20 or 30 years ago, people would consider them obese. Today, they are just “healthy”. Our idea of what a healthy weight is has changed considerably over the past few decades. When I was a child in school, there was the one “fat kid” in the class. Today, all of the kids are fat except for the one “skinny” kid.
