Finding the Motivation to Lose Weight

One of the hardest things in weight loss is finding the motivation to lose weight and to stick with your weight loss plan.  Here are a couple of things you can do to keep focused and motivated to reach your weight loss goal.

Steer Clear of Temptation — Being smart is part of staying motivated to lose weight. Get your weaknesses out of the house, for example if your weakness is candy, throw them away. If a bag of chips is in the kitchen and you are craving it real bad, you will probably cave in and say “well..just this once”, sorry buddy but you have lost the game. You are more likely to reach your goals if your most favorite snack in the world isn’t a foot away from you.

Set Realistic Goals – Make goals possible to achieve. Sticking to goals that are attainable can be your motivation to lose weight. Don’t try to lose weight too fast because you are more likely to stick to it if with a slow and steady weight loss and it’s also healthier.

Reward Yourself — If you’ve done a good job by stick to your weight loss routine, reward yourself. Rewarding yourself will make you feel positive about your weight loss plan and will give you a good shove during those really hard times.Treat yourself to something you would not have on a normal day, from eating your favorite dessert to buying yourself that watch you’ve been dying to have.

Go Easy on Yourself —If you haven’t met your goals for the week or month, don’t beat yourself up about it. Feeling bad about yourself isn’t going to help you lose weight. During those times, take advantage of it and see what can change to improve your weight loss plan.

Stay One Step Ahead of Hunger – Being hungry is going to make it a lot difficult to lose weight. To keep you motivated you and a step ahead of hunger need to eat several small meals a day instead of the usual 3. This can help you feel less hungry between meals because the amount of calories taken in are spread out through the day. Other than the added benefits of drinking water, it can also make your stomach feel fuller so you don’t feel as hungry.

Find an Activity that You Enjoy — If you want to really lose weight try to make weight loss fun, it can be very motivating. If soccer is a passion you should join a soccer team. If your more into swimming go the the local community pool. Doing activities you love are a great way to lose weight because they’re more enjoyable then the treadmill or going for a run.
